1978 Wesley Medical Center establishes foundation to provide
special hospital services.
1984 Wesley Medical Center announces sale to
Hospital Corporation of America.
1985 Wesley Medical Endowment Foundation incorporated as a public entity.
1986 Name changed to Wesley Foundation.
1986 - 1989 Grants focus on health care; health promotion/disease prevention;
health professions education; research.
1988 First Kansas initiative conducted.
1990 Program areas expanded to include elderly and rural health.
1991 Jack Davis named president.
Research funding discontinued.
1992 Name changed to Kansas Health Foundation.
Program areas are: health promotion/disease prevention,
rural health, public health, primary care education.
1993 Health policy and research added as a program area.
1994 Recognition grants begin.
Foundation moves to 309 East Douglas.
1995 Kansas Initiative II conducted.
Kansas Health Institute formed.
1996 Marni Vliet named president.
1997 Program areas are: children; health policy and research; health promotion/disease prevention; primary care education; public health; rural health. Kansas Initiative III conducted.
1998 Leadership added as a program area.
1999 Program areas are: leadership; public health; children's health.
2002 John T. Stewart III steps down after 25 years service to Foundation.
2006 Program areas are: leadership; public health;
children's health; policy.
